Sun Block for adults prone to pimples and wrinkles

OK - ladies - I need something strong - that won't make me break out and WILL stop me from getting old - you know what I mean. And - it'd be great if when it dripped into my eyes during my daily cry - it wouldn't ruin my entire day.

I am not sure about how good this is for sensitive skin, but the tube is really convenient, and my kids never complained about it hurting their eyes, even after rubbing their hands basically all over their faces...

so i havent tried this one, but it looks intriguing, especially the SFP 70! Plus we have used aveeno bath products on our kids and it doesnt seem to irritate their skin.

Neutrogena SPF 55 ultra sheer dry touch sunblock is great for faces. It's totally dry -- not oily at all. It's only drawback (for someone like me) is that it's not water and sweat proof -- but I use it on those rare occasions when I'm in the sun and not moving. :-)

For every day I use Aveeno Positive Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 and really like it. Absorbs fast, isn't greasy and no breakouts. At the beach I use Aveeno Continuous Protection SPF 30 for Faces. I think it's the same as the one that Debbie or Catherine recommended (I can't remember who it was) but a lower SPF. Has worked great so far. Good luck!

Hey Laurel,

I used to use DDF Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew SPF 15 and had good results. (I am really picky about sunscreen as most run into my eyes and make my eyes super uncomfortable.) However, my husband has me off the parabens. I don't know if they've established any causality, but they find them in cancerous growth. They're preservatives found in some beauty products.

I've also used Neutrogena products with good results. And, my tennis pro brother loves them too.

I just bought some Korres SPF 30 sunscreen that's without parabens. I'll tell you how it goes.

Lastly, I like face products from Arcona and also have samples of their 'Reozone' daily sunscreen that's billed as being anti-clog and for aging skins. I'll let you know how I do with that too.

Just need more summer sun in SF!

Laurel,
I use a product called solar defender and honestly think it's the best sunscreen I've ever used. I have acne prone skin and this is not oily and doesn't make me break out. Also, the SPF is high - I think 28. Check it out....it's worth the $ (lasts a long time)

I have a similar issue. I like Banana Boat Sport - it does not seem to make me break out (as much)...

I am a friend of Debby's. I looked at the previous link that Debby posted. The article is hard to follow. I thought the most interesting part of it was that it has an evaluation of ingredients other than the actual sunblock, and finds that alot of them are dangerous.

I found the rating at the very bottom of the first page helpful.

I have major problems with sunblock and breaking out, however I HAVE to use it every day. I now use environmental defense sunscreen spf 30 plus, made by skinmedica. it is fairly pricey (around $40) but well worth it. I do not break out, it is not at all greasy, and I feel like I am really protected.

look for it at skinmedica.com

This is fascinating as I am a sun block fanatic. My Mom and brother who have recent bouts with skin cancer recommended SPF 70 Neutrogena-Age Shiled Face Sunblock. I just bought it but haven't really given it a major test. It doesn't appear to be waterproof which would be a major problem for extended biking and swimming. Laurel, regarding the getting old, I use perscription Retin A which helps both getting old and acne, but it makes all of your skin more sensitive to the sun. I am 40 (don't tell) and still have occasional acne vulgarus and with topical benzoil peroxide and clyndomiacin, they work well. It's a regimine. Currently using Lancome with SPF 15 for my daily "non-exercise" moisturizer and block. It's water based and works well. I also use lancome at night most of the time for wrinkles and it seems to work well. Downside on all of this, cost! Most of these products are more expensive. More to come on the Sun Block after I try the Neutrogenea. Oh, drink water. That helps your skin protect itself when it's exposed to the sun and also helps reduce acne.
