Making high heel shoes comfortable

high heels are horrible - however if you have to do it, I would suggest that you pick your brand carefully. Ecco, Clarks, Born, Danskos (while they do not make heels, they make really nice platform type sandles) Try and find a heel that will be the most supportive.
Paul Green shoes are great when you need to wear heels and still be comfortable. The line usually has a few styles that are cool in every season (some are a little dowdy). I've walked London all day for a week once in Paul Green 3" heels. Only downside is that they are expensive since they are handmade (hence the comfort).Another option, and slightly less expensive, are the Cole Haan Nike air line - I wore a pair of those with very high heels to a wedding this summer and actually survived. I'll talk shoes anytime! and being a 5'3" city-bred girl, I'll be wearing heels as long as I can walk :-)
Thanks for the recommendation! Another brand that I have been hearing about as comfortable yet stylish is Chie Mihara. Unfortunately, it too is rather pricey!
The Sofft Calypso!!! I am not a high heel kinda gal but these shoes were life-transforming AND I've never had so many compliments telling me how cute they are (from other women of course)...seriously, they are more comfortable than some of my flats. I have 2 pairs in different colors - and that is totally out of character for me too ; ) They are not super fancy/sexy...that category definitely requires some pain as far as I can tell.
I have also heard wonderful things about the Cole Haan Nike Air line. Still haven't found a pair to try them out though. This is a great thread though since I just tortured myself for 3 days at a trade show in 3++ inch heels....but I still refuse to wear flats ;-) Masochist!
