What's the Tooth Fairy Doling Out?

We've got one very loose tooth wiggling around here. Interested to hear what the going rate is for baby teeth.
Thanks! Lauren

It was a long, long time ago, but I just got spare change -- maybe it equaled a dollar.

Simply out of curiosity, I'm also interested to hear what inflation has done to the tooth fairy.

(You'll be saddened to know that my dentist puts commas in his price for teeth. I won't be inviting him to answer this!)

I think the going rate is $20 for the first tooth and then it goes up from there.

Just kidding! Whatever is in the wallet at the time (the toothfairy's wallet, of course) is appropriate. Anywhere from a few quarters to a $5 bill and frankly, the kids appreciate the quarters more!

Our tooth fairy gives a shiny Sacajawea dollar. When I was at the drug store I asked for my change in Sacajawea dollars and they had plenty of them sitting in the register.

very funny! (actually, not so funny... I've heard of some parents in Hillsboro and Atherton that do give out $20 per tooth - too rich for my blood!)

I've been asking on the street... It seems like lots of parents give the kids whatever's in the wallet. Some even do stickers.

That $(&)$@ tooth is still wiggling, so we have time to finalize our action plan.

Thanks for the info.

Well, the wiggly tooth finally came out. We were driving home from Southwest Grill (delicious tacos/burritos by the way). I asked Lainey if she thought she could pull out the tooth. She replied, "yes, sure. here you go." It popped right out.

We placed the tooth in a little pouch and put it under the pillow. The next morning, Lainey came into our bedroom at 6:30 looking quite dejected. She announced, "the pouch is still under my pillow..." Guess she thought the tooth fairy was going to take the pouch and leave the prize. Once she checked INSIDE the pouch, Lainey was thrilled to find found four shiny quarters.

Turns out the tooth fairy does business across state lines and in Canada, too. There was a quarter from multiple locations!

Thanks all for your comments - especially the tip to give quarters, Julie. There's already another tooth wigglin'...
