Questions

Do your iPhone apps randomly close?

When using various apps (safari, ny times, games) my iPhone sometimes just closes the app I was in -- It goes back to the home screen.

I don't know if technically this a crash, but as a user it sure feels like one.

Have you experienced this and found a solution?

I have a feeling I just have to wait & pray for the next software update. However, can you feel my pain or offer me a magical solution?

Same experience here. Crashes of NYTimes, Safari & Google Earth are constant even after re-syncing... I've signed up (and paid) as an iPhone developer but still can't get anyone to answer my questions.

On Emilie's it's typically when in Safari. The screen simply goes blank except for the status bar at the top.

Speaking of praying, it might not be a "crash" as much as God laughing at us for buying phones without buttons.

Yep, I get crashes with my 2g iPhone. I usually restart every few days. Also I uninstalled a bunch of free apps.

Crossing my fingers that today's 2.2 update solves this problem. (BTW, could it have been any harder to find street view?!)

Since the last Software Update (2.2 on 11/24/08), my phone has completely crashed (the touchscreen stopped working. I had to let the battery drain, then recharge). Intermittently, the screen goes black, as if the phone turns off. Everything is slower. I get kicked out of Apps (maps, text, safari) way more often. And my calls are dropped or the other person can't hear me......ugh.

I get all of the above as well. I also have trouble making calls. The call either never goes through or I have to wait about 5 minutes to be connected. I also have been getting way to many dropped calls recently. Anybody else experiencing a lot of dropped called in San Fran?

Now that 2.2 has been on my phone for a bit, I find it has treated me pretty well.

I no longer expect apps to crash. It still happens (rarely) but, I am now "suprised" when it does.

I use the "computer" aspect of the iphone more than the phone -- however, FWIW, in LA, I don't seem to have problems with phone calls.
