Hi Paul - I'm assuming you're looking for an upscale experience? It's been a long time since I've expensed a meal (or have otherwise been taken out to a good restaurant!), but Viognier (on top of Draeger's) is a popular business meal spot. Good atmosphere, quiet but not necessarily romantic. I've also heard great things about Lure, the seafood restaurant. Both are downtown, and a bit on the pricey side...
Capellini is a good spot for a business lunch too:http://www.capellinis.com/ If you want more casual: North Beach Pizza is always good (http://www.northbeachpizza.com/), as is this burrito shop: http://www.jatbar.com/reviews/San_Mateo/Taqueria_La_Cumbre.asp I think you and I ate there once!
Paul,My sister lives in San Mateo and when all of our family is visiting and we want a nice night out we either go to: Central Park Bistro or 231 Ellsworth Both are great and perfect for business. If someone recommended these already, sorry for the repeat!
Left Bank on Park Place. Good quality, reliable service and not too crowded. Wave when you go there and I will see you from my office window!
