Good head phones for running?

My old headphones have been allowed to live way, way too long. They still sound great, but the exposed wires are now running rampant. Where wires aren't exposed, the casing is all "sticky."

I guess there was only so much sweat they could take. I think it's time I retire this pair.

I think I spent about $40 for these. I'd like to stay in that range. However, I'd like to find something that is a little more durable.

Anybody have good experience with headphones?

The headphones below are what I'm currently using. Again, they sound and feel great, but they don't act well with sweat.

I replaced my iPod ear buds with these. I thought these were a lot more comfortable and sounded better -- especially on the bass.

However, they didn't stand up very well to workouts. That is, the cords are now frayed and exposing the wires underneath.

I use two sets of headphones which I can recommend:

1) Sony MDR-A44 (which are actually designed to for workout).

2) Motorola S9 if you are using a cellphone or any other device which has a blue tooth support as the music source. If you take this option make sure you test the headphones with your device prior of purchasing, since I had some problems with the connection with several devices (with other devices it works great).

thanks guys.

Seems like Sony is pretty popular. I didn't get the exact model you suggested. However I went ahead and ordered another pair of sonys.

sounds like i am too late for this post, but Bose makes really nice headphones, and the sound is great.

Hi Mike,

About 6 months ago I got a pair of V-Moda Vibe and I absolutely love them. I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to audio and these little things just blew me away. Very good low end and the treble is just right.

Costco and Amazon sell a less expensive "Sport" series and the reviews seem pretty good too.

Thanks Jorge.

I ended up buying the headphones below.

So far they sound decent -- definitely better than the original ipod set. However, I find myself wondering if the bass response isn't a little lacking compared to my "first" pair of sonys. (I threw my old ones away before I could really do an A/B comparison)

On the plus side, the new pair feels a lot more secure in my ear.

(I'm really not sure what I am supposed to do with the case sony included though?! Stupid gimmick ended up in the trash the first day.)
