AT&T vs. Verizon -- a showdown in Santa Monica

I have been on both networks and been annoyed with both. I have managed to find all the dead spots with every single carrier I have been on.When people say that Verizon has the best coverage, it's because their darn coverage maps do indeed appear to blanket the whole country. However, in my experience, the strength of that signal varies widely. In turn, when people complain about the iPhone, it's usually the AT&T network, specifically slothful data. Oh, and the fact that the thing doesn't have any buttons - but I assume you're ok with that if you have seen the phone. FYI, not sure if it makes a difference to you, but AT&T is usually easier to use when overseas because it is on the widely used GSM standard, whereas Verizon is on CDMA.
Don't do it if you actually use your phone for, you know, TALKING.I always had Verizon when I was paying the bills, but now that Large Internet Search Company is paying I have to use their provider (which used to be AT&T, and is now Sprint). Call quality is way worse. I only keep it because it's free. On AT&T, I would get garbled nonsense during calls all the time and dropped calls if I dared to move while talking. On Sprint, the voice quality has been OK once a call is actually taking place but there are lots of places (like my home and office!) where I can barely get a signal. It is possible that I've had bad voice quality with AT&T and Sprint because I have only used Blackberries on these services--maybe the phone sux. But I used a Treo on Verizon and never had any of these problems. -Tito
Say it isn't so!I'm reallizing I was just trying to solicit one persons "Mike, buy an iPhone, otherwise you're an idiot." response. It seems like AT&T people say that it isn't that bad. I'm beginning to think I have to give up my iPhone dreams for a "measly" blackberry. Thanks for the input Tito. I guess I have to go back and look at the unsexy, but nobody-has-a-complaint-about verizon+blackberry-curve.
FWIW:I took the plunge, and switched to AT&T for the iPhone 3G. I'm a week into using it. With regards to cell coverage, so far there is no discernible difference between the highly touted verizon and my new carrier AT&T.
