I really like John Madej, MD in Portola Valley (Alpine Road, just off 280). He just moved his practice from SF, is very personable, has a small office with a great receptionist, and has a web page/replies to emails from patients... http://www.portolamd.com/I really can't say enough about him - always able to get an appointment as well... KD
Thanks Karen, he sounds terrific. The email bit sounds great too -- I met a few doctors who said they won't do email at all due to liability issues.
I really like Kenneth Lin at PAMF Redwood Shores. He's low-key, responsive, concerned, thorough. Bay Area native and father to 2 1/2 year old twins (read his bio at pamf.org). I'm very impressed with PAMF in general, especially their online capabilities. Not only email, but lab results, appointment scheduling, etc. To me it's worth the drive from Burlingame.
Hey Roy,Rob and I both really like Bonnie Rosenberg on Grant Rd, near El Camino hospital (so pretty close for you guys). She's an excellent diagnostician, takes lots of time and great e-notes so she's always on top of what you told her last, and the office staff is friendly and knows all the patients. No email but calls are very promptly returned and unhurried. Only drawback may be that she is not contracted with anybody so is "out-of-network" for everyone (like most of my beloved doctors these days, unfortunately). She just took a partner in her practice and I met her only once but she was also very on top of things. Marta
Thanks Marta, she sounds great, and that location is really convenient. Now just need to pick between her and Karen's doctor, I think -- and figure out the whole insurance situation (fun fun fun).
I went to Madej on Friday and he is awesome! Got a good story out of it too...I needed a TB test and he apologized profusely for not having the test in the office. He said he was on call at el camino hospital, and I could call his cell a bit later in the day. I told him I would have my 3 kids with me. He says "no problem, I will meet you in the parking lot, and you don't need to get out". Now I am picturing myself waiting for no less than 1/2 hour in the parking lot with 3 screaming fussy kids, but I figure, lets give it a try. So I call him and tell him I am 5 minutes away. I pull into the lot, and he is standing out there waiting for me, TB test in hand. He motions for me to roll down the window, says hello to my kids, and gives me the shot. just like that. I have to say that I have never quite had a doctor experience quite like that. Needless to say I am a fan.
