Pros:

Amazingly fresh produce, support local agriculture, eat organic!

Cons:

Subscribers have to pick up weekly boxes, no choice of products delivered, 90% veggies (versus fruit)

We joined the Two Small Farms CSA this summer. For $20 week, we pick up an amazing box of fresh organic produce (mostly vegetables) about 7 minutes from our home in Burlingame. Everything is picked within 24 hours of when it's delivered. I mean, I've had lettuce last 2 weeks!

It feels really good to be supporting local (Watsonville) farmers and I honestly think the price is right. Sure, you could save some $$ by purchasing only sale items, but I'm certain the $20 per week is less than what you'd pay if shopping at Whole Foods.

Although some families with fussy eaters might want more choice (you get what you get), I think it's kind of fun to come up with menus based on what's in our box each week. And the Two Small Farms website has an amazing array of recipes if you're completely baffled by how to cook your kale, beets and chard :-)

I encourage everyone to check it out at www.twosmallfarms.com.
