Pros:

If you are a Bob Dylan or folk fan, or grew up in the late 60's/70's, or if you're just interested in that time period you should enjoy this film. Good concert footage. Sound is awesome.

Cons:

Chapter on problems with the news/press. Who famous in the 60s or now didn't/doesn't have this problem? Didn't impact his music, I think should've skip it.

If you are a Bob Dylan or folk fan, or grew up in the late 60's/70's, or if you're just interested in that time period you should enjoy this film. This Scorsese documentary on Dylan begins with Dylan in concert as he sings Like A Rolling Stone, and covers a large part of his formative years. If you are interested in Dylan's earlier career, this film shows how he was influenced by such musicians as Woody Guthrie and other predecessors, which help mold his musical direction and character. There are also interviews with other contemporaries such as Joan Baez, Guthrie, and some of the early producers that saw in Dylan that spark of talent, and gave him his break in the recording industry. There are also recent interviews with Dylan wherein he reflects upon that time, and comments upon several different topics, sometimes breaking many misconceptions about him and the folk era. All in all a solid documentary.
