Pros:	Gives you a dedicated place to put dirty diapers
Cons:	Stinks up a room and wastes a lot of plastic.

As first-time parents, we felt that the Diaper Genie was a must-have. Boy, were we wrong. Talk about marketing genius!
This thing is a glorified garbage can. Instead, we just throw our poopy diapers in plastic bags (from supermarkets) and throw them in the outside garbage.

I couldn't agree more! especially with twins, the genie is totally impractical. unless of course you want to spend your entire day switching the plastic liners in and out. we also just used a trash can outside. best solution.

Another tip if you run out of bags from the supermarket -- go to Petco and buy the bags they sell to pick up after your dog on a walk. They are about the right size. Hefty Brand also makes very small plastic bags, about 2/3 the size of the supermarket bags. They hold a couple of diapers and make getting rid of them a snap.

Agree that the diaper genie is one of the most disgusting things ever invented. Not even soaking the container in ammonia for a day eliminates the stench.
