Pros:

ESPN looks really good on it

Cons:

HGTV looks really good on it

This was our first step out of the 27 inch cathode ray tube cave and it has been well worth it. Why didn't I do this earlier?! Coupled with DirecTV's outstanding high definition content, the picture is amazing and the slim, wall mounted appearance is sleek and space saving.

You can spend lots more. Pioneer's top of the line gets great reviews and many LCDs are now being sold with 120Hz which supposedly "reduces motion blur." What? I don't see any motion blur. Usually I'm pretty particular about these things, but when I went to the stores, all of the flat screens looked great and...well, more or less the same.

The harder decision is probably plasma vs. LCD. Plasma cheaper but LCD brighter. Countless other nuances but those were the most noticeable differences.

I have had good luck with Sony, got a good deal at Circuit City and love this television. Highly recommend.

No motion blur?
No "stuttering" on sports?
Really?

I've still got an "old" tube (sony XBR 36" 1080i HD). When watching it, I *never* see blur.

However, when at a friends house who has a flat panel (not sure if they are LCD or plasma), I swear, things look really good too, but there are times when I say "my TV doesn't do that."

Are you suggesting that my tube can be replaced with something that looks better? (I'm not clear as to whether your old tube was HD)

I probably don't *need" a new TV, but perhaps you can give me an excuse to get one?
